Mashed Brain is a book-summarizing subscription service located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, offering users access to unlimited audio and text summaries of books. The goal of this project was to transform a Figma design into a fully functional mobile app for both iOS and Android, built using React Native. The app's core features included reading books, saving them, receiving books via email, receiving notifications for new book additions, listening to book audios, and downloading content. Despite its complex UI, the app aimed to provide an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly experience.
The Figma design was meticulously translated into a pixel-perfect user interface using React Native, ensuring a visually appealing and consistent design across both iOS and Android platforms. The app seamlessly connected to the backend, enabling users to access a vast library of book summaries and interact with various features. Users could read books directly within the app, and they had the option to save their favorite books for offline access. Additionally, the app allowed users to have book summaries emailed to them, offering convenience for future reference.
One of the app's standout features was the ability to listen to book summaries in audio format, providing an alternative for users who preferred auditory learning. Users could also download book summaries for offline consumption, enhancing the app's accessibility.
In the development process, managing the audio book feature presented challenges like audio file management and smooth playback, but the app successfully brought the concept of book summarization to life.
